Eastern Province

Capital: Trincomalee |

The Eastern Province of Sri Lanka is a diverse and vibrant region located along the island’s eastern coastline. It comprises three districts—Trincomalee, Batticaloa, and Ampara—and is known for its beautiful beaches, rich cultural heritage, and agricultural significance. The province is home to a mix of ethnic communities, mainly Tamils, Muslims, and Sinhalese, contributing to a unique cultural blend.

Its coastline boasts some of the island’s most pristine and less crowded beaches, such as Pasikudah and Arugam Bay, the latter being a world-renowned surf destination. Inland, the region thrives on rice farming and livestock, supported by major irrigation systems. The Eastern Province also holds historical importance, with ancient temples, colonial forts, and archaeological sites scattered throughout.
